LAHORE – A youth was shot dead while his girlfriend was wounded seriously when the father of the girl opened fire at them in the Baghbanpura area, police said on Thursday.
Investigators termed the murder an incident of ‘honour’ killing. Raids were underway to nab the killer.  The cops said that one Amanat Ali opened fire at his daughter and her boyfriend inside his residence in Amir Town as he had saw them in an objectionable condition.
The youth, identified as Muhammad Waseem, a resident of Ferozewala, had developed a love affair with Shumaila Bibi. The 28-year-old youth used to visit his sweetheart’s house to see her. On the day of the incident, as Amanat Ali, the father of the girl, came back home, he saw them in an objectionable condition in a bedroom.
He got infuriated, took out his pistol and opened straight fire at them. The killer fled away from the crime scene. The police reached the spot and removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy. The girl was rushed to a local hospital, where her condition was reported to be critical till filing of this report.
