Faisal new AFC Disciplinary Committee chairman

LAHORE - Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat achieved yet another milestone when he was appointed as Chairman of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Disciplinary Committee. PFF Chief was promoted from member to new post, replacing outgoing Chairman Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa. Also President of Bahrain Football Association (BFA), Salman had stepped down from the post on 1 June 2009. Faisal's appointment was one of the key decisions that were made during the AFC Executive Committee's eighth meeting, chaired by AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam, with members determined to ensure the continued expansion and growth of AFC's ambitious programs to raise the standard of football in Asia. Syria's Dr. Ahmad Jabban was promoted from current member to Deputy Chairman. The previous Deputy Chairman decided to vacant the post because of ill health. "The AFC Executive Committee is responsible for implementing the Confederation's statutes and decisions of the Congress. The Executive Committee must ratify all decisions taken by the standing committees and judicial bodies. It is welcome gift for national football body of Pakistan as PFF Chief deserved such reward following his untiring efforts to promote soccer in Pakistan," said PFF's Secretary General Lt.Col (r) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi who added that it was first time in entire 62-year history of PFF that country's soccer official becomes the Head of an AFC Standing Committee. Meanwhile, Hammam congratulated Faisal Saleh Hayat for becoming first-ever Pakistani to earn top slot in AFC Disciplinary Committee. "Faisal's commitment as PFF Chief is triumph for Pakistan's players, coaches, referees and administrators. The football family stands solidly behind PFF Chief for his tremendous accomplishment in such a short span of time. The availability of high-grade FIFA Football House (total three Goal projects in all), getting hosting rights of AFC events regularly, launching of Two-tier Pakistan Premier League, Women Soccer, Vision Asia, AFC AID-27 Coaches Scheme etc are some of the many milestones in Faisal's tenure and due to his fine dedication, commitment AFC had promoted him from member to Chairman in AFC Disciplinary Committee," said Hammam. Becoming 17th PFF President on 28 August 2003, Faisal changed the fortune of Pakistan football with several landmarks and his period from 2003 to 2009 has been treated as "Golden Years of Pakistan Football". Faisal pledged to continue his drive to youth development, women soccer and to modernize the game in Pakistan. PFF have achieved a lot in the last five years and enhancement of Pakistan soccer exposure to 2100 % from 2003 to 2008 as compare to Activities from 1998 to 2003 showed that PFF are serious in transforming football matters on strong plinth. It may be recalled that AFC Executive Committee had recognized Faisal Saleh Hayat's glorious work from 2003-07 during AFC 22nd Congress, Kuala Lumpur on 8 May 2007 and have re appointed him as member (later on Chairman) of AFC Disciplinary Committee until 2011. AFC also approved him in AFC Disciplinary Committee (Indonesian Leg) of 14th Asian Football Cup 2007. Indonesia was one of the four nations to organize the AFC's showpiece event alongwith Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam from 7-29 July 2007.
