Heat claims five lives


LAHORE – At least five people died because of sizzling weather in different parts of the City, police and rescue workers informed on Thursday.
As per details, a man, later identified as Javed Ahmed, was on his way home on foot when he suddenly fell unconscious at Bastami Road in the Samanabad area because of scorching heat. He was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Father of four, Javed was said to be the resident of Gulshan-e-Ravi.
Another man, ye to be identified so far, was found dead lying alongside a road near the Minar-i-Pakistan ground, while another unidentified man was recovered dead from the Badami Bagh area.
Similarly, another two men, unidentified so far, were also recovered dead from the Shadman and Qila Gujjar Singh police areas. Medical experts told the police that they suffered cardiac arrest because of scorching heat and died later. The police have removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
