More rains ahead

LAHORE - Parts of the country including Lahore received rainfall of varying intensities yesterday with experts predicting more rains during the next couple of days.

Rain-thundershower with strong gusty winds occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Islamabad, FATA and Kashmir.

Overcast conditions, rains and strong winds caused considerable decrease in the mercury level, providing much needed respite to the people from the prevailing sultry weather. In Lahore, strong winds started blowing early morning that followed by rains. Cloudiness, rains and winds provided relief to the heat stricken people by decreasing daytime temperature.

Maximum and minimum temperature was recorded 34 degree Celsius and 28C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 51 percent.

According to experts, low pressure lies over central parts of the country with its trough extending south-eastward. Moderate moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating upper and central parts of the country and likely to continue during next 24-36 hours. A westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country Wednesday and may persist during next 36-48 hours.

Meteorological department has forecast scattered rain-thundershower with strong gusty winds (with isolated heavy falls) for Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat  divisions, FATA, Islamabad and Kashmir and at isolated places in Malakand, DI Khan, Bannu, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, DG Khan divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next couple of days.
