Lady doctor among four found dead

LAHORE - Four persons including a lady doctor were discovered dead from different parts of the provincial metropolis yesterday, rescue workers said.

Police are investigation the four mysterious deaths reported in Garhi Shahu, Badami Bagh, North Cantonment, and Muslim Town police precincts. The bodies were moved to the morgue.

A young lady doctor was found dead from an apartment located in the limits of Garhi Shahu police station early yesterday. Police identified the lady as Dr Saba Iqbal.

According to investigators, the woman was lying dead in her bedroom under mysterious circumstances. The investigators yesterday shifted the body to the morgue for the postmortem to ascertain the cause of death. Later, the police handed over the body to the family and the deceased was buried in a local graveyard.

A 30-year-old man was discovered dead from the city canal near Muslim Town yesterday afternoon. Rescue workers who pulled out the body from the canal said there were severe torture marks on the body parts of the victim. Some passersby witnessed the body floating alongside the canal and contacted the police by phone. Edhi foundation workers shifted the body to the Jinnah hospital for autopsy.

Police believe unidentified killers tortured the man to death somewhere else and fled after throwing his body into the canal. Investigators are treating the death as homicide. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained.

In another incident, a 30-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances in the North Cantonment police area yesterday. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Naeem, a resident of Arifabad.

One of his friends told the police that they were standing alongside a road in Arifabad when Naeem fell unconscious all of a sudden. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where he expired later. The police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy and police are investigating.

Meanwhile, police recovered the sack-packed body of a 40-year-old man from Badami Bagh. The man, unidentified so far, was tortured to death by unknown killers, police said.

Some passersby spotted a gunny bag alongside a road near Railways Crossing and alerted the police. The police yesterday registered a murder case against unidentified killers and were investigating to solve the blind murder. No arrest was made yet.
