LHC orders action against Sharif brothers’ relative
LAHORE: A single bench of the Lahore High Court Tuesday ordered police to take action against Yousaf Aziz, a close relative of Sharif brothers, allegedly involved in a fraud case.
Shahnaz Latif, mother of MPA Mohsin Latif, filed a petition submitting that her brother Yousaf Aziz, a close relative of Sharif brothers, submitted a fake affidavit on her (petitioner) behalf in a case about distribution of Ittefaq Group’s assets.
The petitioner said that her brother misled the court by counterfeiting her signatures. She said she approached sessions court seeking directions for police to register FIR against him. The petitioner said that the sessions court ordered police to lodge FIR against her brother Yousaf Aziz for committing fraud but police was reluctant to do so. The petitioner requested the court to order CCPO to register a case against the respondent.
After hearing the arguments of the petitioner’s counsel, Justice Zafarullah Khaqwani disposed of the petition with direction to the police to take up the application of the petitioner and decide in accordance with law.–Staff Reporter

Sitting stresses Indo-Pak talks
LAHORE: The participants of Pak-India People’s dialogue on peace and harmony stressed the need for negotiation between two neighboring countries for reducing tension in the region. South Asia Partnership –Pakistan arranged dialogue at its office on Tuesday that was participated by human rights activists from India and Pakistan. Jaitinbabu Desai, Sardar Nanak Singh, Nishtar, Dr Syed Mazher Hussain and Mohammad Omer Abbideen from India, Prof Sadat Saeed, Mohammad Tahseen and Adrees Tabassum from Pakistan talked about various issues and challenges regarding peace.
Sardar Nanak Singh urged intellectuals from both the countries to sensitize people about benefits of peace in the region.
Omar Abbideen said that no religion teach violence and intolerance. He said that parties in both the countries were promoting violence for political gains which was unfortunate.
Jaitinbabbu Desai said that recently Pakistan government released 56 boats of Indian fisher folks which was a step in the right direction.–Staff Reporter

MNA fined
LAHORE: The Election Tribunal on Tuesday imposed Rs5,000 fine on MNA Tariq Mahmood of PML_N defying the orders regarding representation in alleged matter of rigging in NA-98 of Gujranwala.
Imtiaz Safdar Waraich of PPP had filed the petition and challenged the victory of Tariq Mahmood as MNA from NA-98. The tribunal issued notices to the respondent but he never complied with it. The tribunal adjourned further proceedings till the next week.–Staff Reporter

Demand for action
LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek has demanded the ECP take action against Railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique for holding an election corner meeting in cantonment in support of his favourite candidate.–Staff Reporter
The PAT held the holding of meeting after announcement of the election in the area is a crime under the section 86 of the Cantonment Ordinance. A meeting was held at the PAT secretariat chaired by Raja Zahid to review and write a letter to the ECP in this connection. The letter says that the minister held an election corner meeting in Walton, Lahore, and announced open support for a candidate and urged upon the participants to vote for the candidate he supports.–Staff Reporter
