LAHORE - Two young boys were discovered dead from a pond in Lahore’s Race Club yesterday morning. The bodies were moved to the morgue for autopsy. The Kot Lakhpat police are investigating the deaths.
Investigators identified the victims as seven-year-old Shafqat and eight-year-old Abdul Rehman.
Initial investigations revealed that both the boys went missing on Thursday afternoon under mysterious circumstances. “The bodies were discovered in the morning as the Race Club workers took horses to pond for bath,” a police officer said yesterday.
According to the officer, the boys apparently drowned in the pond. However, the police will investigate the deaths keeping in view all aspects of the happening.
A relative of one of the victims told the police that both the boys went to a nearby filtration plant to fetch water in bottles on Thursday afternoon but they did not come back.
After witnessing the dead bodies, the race club management immediately contacted the police by phone.
Several policemen reached the spot within no time. Forensic experts and investigators were seen collecting evidences from the crime scene.
Relatives of the victims and dozens of locals gathered on the spot as the news about the recovery of the dead bodies spread like a jungle fire in the entire locality. Further investigations were underway.
ACCIDENT: A woman died while four people wounded seriously when a truck bumped into a motorcycle-rickshaw on the Multan Road near Manga Mandi.
The middle-aged woman, unidentified so far, expired on the spot while the injured were shifted to the Jinnah hospital yesterday evening.
Police said the road mishap took place because over speeding. The driver managed to escape from the crime scene while the police have impounded the truck and are investigating the incident.
