LAHORE: Civil Judge Muhammad Zeshan ordered to release nine female inmates from Darul Aman here the other day.
The judge placed the order after hearing the arguments of female inmates through their counsel advocate Uzma Awan. Earlier the court had summoned all nine detainees to appear before the court and sought report from Darul Aman Superintendent.
The names of released women are Ghulam Fatima 25, Asma 18, Samina Ibrahim 35, Sajida Taj Muhammad 19, Farzana Ramzan 18, Mariyam Asif 18, Shahida Sadiq 25, Shazia Khursheed 45 age and Nazia Akbar 35 years old. The petitioner detainees who had been provided legal aid by a local Madadgaar Helpline had submitted through their counsel that they wanted to go back to their homes on their own will.
Their counsel advocate Uzma Awan argued that they wanted to leave Dar ul Aman with their free will but a delaying process of their release was a hurdle as madadgar raised questions to Dar ul Aman Superintendent Misbah Rasheed. The counsel said they should be released so that they could their lives freely.–Staff Reporter
