Home economists handed degrees

LahoreL Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmad attends as chief guest the 45th Annual Convocation of Gulberg Govt College of Home Economics, according to press release.
For the past two years, no convocation was held due to security risks. Two batches of BS Home Economics 2014, 2015 received degrees. Twenty-seven 37 medals and 7 Rolls of Honour were awarded.
Following girls bagged Rolls of Honour, Nehdia Ahmad, Saba Zahid, Ayesha Israr, Saboor Zafar Hamdani, Zainab Javed, Hamra Saleem, Qurat ul Ain, Namood e Sahar and Faryal Abdullah. Rana Mashood Ahmad distributed the prizes and congratulated the parents, teachers and students.
The convocation ended with a vote of thanks by the Head Girl. The convocation was attended by dignitaries, parents, principals of various colleges, faculty members and people from Education Department.
Rana Mashood appreciated Principal Prof Dr Samia Kalsoom, teachers and students and formally announced the status of University for the College.
In her address, Dr Kalsoom highlighted the achievements of the students in various fields. The Principal highlighted the scope of Home Economics. She said that graduates from this institution are serving the society as Nutritionists, Art & Fashion designers, and educators. They are also serving as trainers to physically challenged children. The principal presented the demands of the college for a fund to repair the damaged floor and washrooms of the college. A special quota in government jobs for the graduates of college of Home Economics was requested for.
