The by-elections for the MNA seat for PP 78 in Jhang are being held today, reported Waqt News.

The polling will continue till 5:00 PM today and elections are being held under strict security.

It is pertinent to mention here that for the first time in the city’s history a transgender person Muhammad Arif, commonly known as Madam Bota is a candidate for the elections.

The major candidates for the election include PTI’s Shiekh Arfa Majeed, PML-N’s Haji Azad Nasir Ansari and the independent candidate Maulana Masroor Nawaz Jhangvi and PPP’s Sarfaraz Rabani. 

The seat for the constituency in the national parliament was left vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified PML-N’s Rashida Yaqoob oof concealing assets.
