Dr Ismail appointed acting PTA chairman

ISLAMABAD : Acting Chairman, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Dr Syed Ismail Shah and Member (Finance) Tariq Sultan have assumed the charge of their respective posts. The govt in compliance with the Supreme Court orders has appointed three Members in PTA through a competitive process.   Dr Syed Ismail Shah was appointed Member (Technical) and given acting charge of the Chairman PTA.
  Dr Syed Ismail Shah has an Engineering Bachelors from Pakistan and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA.  He brings with him rich experience of both private and government sector, according to a Press statement issued by the PTA. Tariq Sultan has joined as Member (Finance) PTA.   He remained DG Finance in PTA for several years and was currently working Director General (Revenue Assurance) PTA.  He holds MBA from IBA Karachi, Masters in Accounting and Finance from Manchester University and CIMA from Canada. Secretary, Ministry of Law, Justice & Human Rights Mr Justice(Retd) Muhammad Raza Khan has been given additional charge of the post of Member (Compliance & Enforcement) in PTA.  On Monday, Acting Chairman PTA and Member Finance held meeting with senior officers of the Authority and discussed various short terms and long term measures to facilitate and regulate the telecom industry of Pakistan.   Senior PTA officers briefed them about different matters including auction of spectrum. With constitution of PTA Authority it is hoped that the telecom sector would be able to show further progress and steps would be taken to resolve outstanding issues.  Acting Chairman PTA also made a courtesy call on the Minister of State for IT & Telecom Anusha Rahman Ahmad Khan and discussed matters pertaining to the telecom industry.
