Ex-minister's son Mustafa Kanju arrested from Khushab

Lahore- The Khushab police said today that they arrested Mustafa Kanju, the son of former state minister for foreign affairs Siddique Kanju, who gunned a 15-year-old boy after a minor road accident.

The arrest came hours after the incident took place near Cavalry Ground area in Lahore Cantt, where police said Mustafa Kanju also wounded a passerby, when he and his three guards opened fire, following a minor road accident involving his vehicle and a motorcycle.

According to the details, Mustafa was allegedly drunk while driving when he hit a car, upon which the people around criticized him. He went back home and brought his guards and opened fire on the people. Resultantly, 15-year-old student named Zain, only son and brother of three sisters, was killed while a pedestrian was injured.

Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif also had taken notice of the incident and ordered the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Wing, to submit report regarding the crime. The police registered a case and arrested as many as eight people, including seven personal guards and two relatives of the culprit.

The police have arrested the criminal from Khushab after carrying out raids at different places. Meanwhile the student’s body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy and later to his home upon which the family mourned.
