Dr. Muhammad Zaman Mehsud, a senior local journalist was killed in an attack by unknown assailants in the Tank district of KP,Waqt News reported. The journalist was on his way from Gomal Bazar to Tank when his car was attacked leaving him seriously injured. He was shot 5 times.

According to media sources unidentified attackers shot him last night, he was rushed to the Dera Ismail Khan but died due to the severe injuries. 

He was the president and secretary general of the Tribal Union of Journalists’ South Waziristan chapter and worked at Daily Umat.

“This seems to be the case of target killing,” police sources claimed.

The sources further stated that international organizations have categorized Pakistan as one of the most dangerous countries for journalists. “56 have been killed in last 20 years, 14 only in 2014, and 3 this year,” the reports stated.
