PM lauds media role against terrorism

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday appreciated the role of media against terrorism and sectarianism.
Talking to Special Assistant of Prime Minister and Head of Committee on Media Code of Conduct Irfan Siddiqui, the prime minister said the role of media with reference to national interest and development of the country was of vital importance and the government completely believes in the freedom of media.
He said that consensus on media Code of Conduct is very positive progress. He expressed the hope that serious efforts will be made for implementation of media Code of Conduct. The prime minister also appreciated the efforts of Committee on Media Code of Conduct. Earlier, Irfan Siddiqui gave a detailed briefing to the PM on media code of conduct.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister also approved the establishment of second LNG terminal and directed to complete it by the end of next year.
Chairing a meeting here to review progress on installation of LNG power plants in the country, the PM also directed to speed up the development work so that benefit of LNG power plants could be given both to industrial and domestic sectors.
Secretary Water and Power Younus Dhaga briefed the prime minister about the current status of the development of LNG power plants with combined capacity of 3600MW. The prime minister said that funds for South-North pipeline for LNG transmission have been approved and therefore work on the project should start without any delay.
