A Daska-based labourer has been dragged from pillar to post as he had to keep moving between Nadra offices in Daska, Sialkot, Sambrial and Pasrur for getting his renewed computerized national identity card (CNIC) for the last five years.
M Naseem, a resident of Pasrur Road Daska, said that the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) had issued him CNIC (34601-6027831-3) on January 12, 2003. It expired in 2010. He visited the Nadra Daska office for renewal but the local officials asked him to come next year for renewal. The next year, he went there and again he was asked to come the next year or visit the Nadra offices in Sialkot, Sambrial and Pasrur for the purpose. However, then the officials told him that his CNIC number had been allotted to some person in 2012. He added that Nadra had mistakenly issued CNIC to the other person under the same number of his CNIC and now his was not being renewed for the last five years.
When contacted, the Nadra office confirmed the mistake. It said that Nadra had issued a CNIC under the same number to Nafees Hussain Javaid Ansari, a resident of Iqbal Colony-Ghazipura Sialkot Cantt, on November 30, 2012. As a solution to the issue, Nadra officials suggested the affected applicant should submit a complaint to the Nadra office in Sialkot.
