HAFIZABAD- A teenaged girl who had tied the knot with a youth against the wishes of her parents last week was shot and thrown in the Jhang Branch canal by her family on Thursday.
However, the villagers fished out her when she made hue and cry. She has been shifted to the DHQ Hospital with serious wounds on her face and hands.
Saba Maqsood of Iftikhar Colony had married her cousin Qasir against the wishes of her parents. Her father Maqsood Ahmad, brother Faisal, uncle Ashfaq Ahmad and aunty Sajida took her to Hafizabad and opened fire at her near the Jhang Branch canal.  When the accused felt that she had died, they threw her into the canal and fled away.
After some time, she regained consciousness and started making hue and cry. As a result, some villagers fished her out and shifted to the DHQ Hospital where she is fighting for life. The Saddar police have registered a case against her father and four others.
