PTI MNAs accuse KP CM of promoting corruption

DERA ISMAIL KHAN - Five members of National Assembly (MNAs) belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sunday alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was promoting corruption in the province.

Addressing a press conference here, MNAs Dawar Kundi (Tank District), Amirullah Marwat (Lakki Marwat), Sajid Nawaz (Peshawar), Khayal Zaman Afridi (Fata) and Junaid Akbar (Malakand) accused Chief Minister Pervez Khattak of adopting policies which were harming the KP.

They vowed that they would not rest till the removal of Khattak as chief minister. Three years had lapsed, but the condition of the province had not changed. In fact, he himself was a hurdle in the way of ‘change’ which was committed by the PTI during its election campaign and that was why they had to come in the open against him, they added.

The MNAs also levelled accusations of corruption against various provincial ministers. The CM was trying to sideline Imran Khan through a well-planned scheme as the provincial ministers were hands in glove, they alleged.

They said local elections were held in the KP a year ago but powers had not been devolved to the local governments. Probably the corrupt elements were a hurdle in its way, they added.

The MNAs said corruption was at its peak in water management, revenue and education departments while the opposition parties had failed to play their role as almost all of them had been made allies by the CM.

They also alleged that the funds of the entire province were being spent in three districts of Nowshera, Mardan and Swabi.

They opined that change could only be possible by changing the system whereas Chief Minister Khattak was behaving like a traditional politician.

Some Jamaat-i-Islami leaders along with the local representatives of Awami National Party (ANP) and members of PTI’s forward block were also present during the press conference.
