Senate body to consider opposition's Panama bill

ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice will be held on Monday, 7th November to consider "The Panama Papers Inquiries Bill, 2016."

The bill has been introduced by PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan and 34 other members of the opposition.

PML-N’s Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi will chair the meeting. It will be attended by 12-members of the Committee as well as 34 movers.

According to sources, the PPP has asked all its senators as well as those of the opposition parties who joined in making the draft TORs bill to ensure their presence to ensure smooth passage of the Bill by the Committee on Law and Justice.

In case, if a few members of the opposition fail to turn up, the bill would be rejected by the standing committee and thus the move by the Opposition to make prime minister and his children accountable according to their (Opposition) liking, would be defeated.
