MANDI BAHAUDDIN - Intra-PTI elections in the district will take place on 26th and 27th, disclosed the party’s district chairman of its Election Committee.
Advocate Bilal Ranjha said that in the first phase, 16,700 registered members would exercise their right to vote to choose the party leaders in 40 union councils. Total number of union councils in the district is 65 but the remaining 25 union councils have less than 100 members each. According to the PTI policy, election would not be held in these union councils, he added.
“Each union council will elect 13 office-bearers on nine general and four women’s seats. In the second phase, the elected office-bearers of union councils will elect officeholders at the district and tehsil levels on January 27,” he said.
 He added the members would cast votes through SMS. Polling stations have been set up in each union council to facilitate the voters who do not have access to cell phones or do not know how to cast a vote through the new technology gadgets, he concluded.
