Kalabagh Dam: LHC dismisses contempt plea against PM and CMs

LAHORE- Lahore High Court (LHC) today rejected a contempt of court plea against the prime minister and chief ministers, for refusing to build Kalabagh Dam.

A bench of LHC comprises of Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the case. Petitioner Chaudhry Saleem in his plea said that despite the court orders, the government failed to take steps for construction of Kalabagh Dam. He pleaded for contempt of court proceedings against the prime minister and the chief ministers, over violation of the court order.

LHC single bench after hearing the arguments dismissed the plea declaring it as non-maintainable. A LHC bench in a verdict over the petitions for construction of Kalabagh Dam had ordered the government earlier to build the contentious hydro-electric project.
