World urged to declare rape, molestation in Held Kashmir a war crime

Islamabad- Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) has called for speedy justice to the victims of rape and molestation committed by the armed forces in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir since 1990, urging the international community to declare sexual and physical harassment of women in Kashmir as a war crime under international law.

“Expeditious justice should be delivered to the women who were subjected to rape and molestation by the armed forces operating in Jammu Kashmir since 1990 and guilty forces should be awarded exemplary punishment,” the amalgam leaders including Mustaq-ul-Islam, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Shabir Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Iqbal Mir, in a joint statement on the International Women’s Day Sunday, adding that all the pending cases of rape and molestation should be adjudicated at the earliest and guilty awarded punishment.
