JHUNG- The Election Tribunal has declared Ahlesunnat Wal Jamaat leader Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi as the Member of National Assembly (MNA) from NA-89 Jhang.

Earlier the same tribunal, had declared election of PML-N MNA Sheikh Muhammad Akram from NA-89 as ‘void’ and proposed a reschedule. A petition of ineligibility was filed by Ahlesunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leader Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi against Sheikh Muhammad Akram on the charges of bank default among others.

It must be remembered that the constituency has a history of PML-N and ASWJ patch up but surprisingly in 2013 elections, PML-N gave ticket to Sheikh Waqas Akram. But since he was ineligible due to a fake degree, Waqas put forward his father Sheikh Muhammad Akram's name in contention.
