Islamabad- Saudi Arabia assuring of continuous support to Pakistani government in war against terrorism, has refuted media claims that it is funding the extremist mindset in Pakistan, through its financial support for the religious seminaries.

Saudi embassy in a statement issued today said, a section of media has been propagating lately a false impression of Saudi financial aid, to religious seminaries.

“Infact whenever any seminary, mosque or charity organization requests the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for financial assistance, the embassy refers the matter to the govt of Pakistan through the Foreign ministry for examining suitability of the applicant of financial assistance

Eventually when the Ministry informs the embassy in writing that the financial assistance is in the interest of public welfare than the assistance is provided to the applicant.

The assistance has always been beyond sectarian considerations”, the embassy said

It further said that Saudi Arabia is closely assisting Pakistan in its counter terrorism efforts, it is very careful that philanthropic and humanitarian assistance does not fall into the extremists hands.
