Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg today told about threats received from an extremist from Pakistan who threatened him after the social network refused to ban content ridiculing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Mark Zuckerberg revealed the threats he received just two days after the shooting incident in Paris, which left 12 people dead.

In his post, he said, “A few years ago, an extremist in Pakistan fought to have me sentenced to death because Facebook refused to ban content about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that offended him.”

“I’m committed to building a service where you can speak freely without fear of violence,” he wrote.

Zuckerberg received several comments and over 120,000 ‘likes’ on this post. In fact, he even replied, “It’s not against our policies to talk about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We did block the content in Pakistan where it was illegal, but we didn’t block it in the rest of the world where it is legal.”
