Pakistan Railway authorities reluctant to act against corrupt clerical staff

KARACHI- The Pakistan Railways (PR) authorities have been reluctant to take any action against the corrupt clerical staff despite the revelation of their involvement in corruption, according to an inquiry report.
According to a private TV channel, a report prepared by Inspector Coaching and Goods unearthed the corruption of more than Rs400,000 done by booking clerks in Karachi Cantt Station.
The report further stated that clerks of the PR who were on the brink of destruction were not hesitant on using unfair means for raking money. The said financial irregularities have been rendered during period of October 2013 to January 2014. An inquiry was conducted into the case of embezzlement came to the fore, which proved the booking clerks guilty but no action has been taken against them so far.
