Quaid-e-Azam solar power project being subjected to controversy: CM

Lahore: Chief Minister (CM) Punjab said today that Quaid-e-Azam solar power project has been subjected to controversy.

He said that no other party than Pakistan Mulsim League Nawaz (PML-N) had added a single megawatt to the national grid 

Talking in a press conference, CM Punjab said that baseless reports are being circulated in the media regarding Quaid-e-Azam solar power plant 

Shahbaz Sharif said that solar park begins producing electricity when the sun rises and continues to do so until the sun sets adding that electricity production lowers from dusk onwards. He said that no province except Punjab has ever added a single watt of electricity in the national grid. “Sit-ins had slowed down the progress of the project significantly” said the CM.

CM Punjab said that up to Rs. 2 billion of the Pakistani masses had been saved by electing to construct the solar project. He said that National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is a federal institution and had imposed tariff of 16.3% which had been reduced to 14.3%.
