Disqualification case of MNA adjourned

MULTAN
The Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court adjourned the hearing of a petition filed for the disqualification of PML-N legislator Abdur Rehman Kanju and fixed the September 22 as the next date for hearing.
Abdur Rehman Kanju had won from NA-155 Lodhran-11 as an independent candidate in 2013 general elections by securing 85,376 votes. Later, he joined PML-N. He is facing a legal petition for allegedly using dual CNICs and fake degrees. The Punjab ex- Minister for prisons Abdul Waheed Arian has already faced disqualification in a likewise case.
Legal counsel to the petitioner Azhar Kamlana told the media that petitioner Safdar Hussein Gilani had filed the petition in 2014 before the LHC Multan bench, challenging the dual CNICs and educational certificates of Abdur Rehman Kanju. The LHC Multan bench sought detailed response from Abdur Rehman Kanju, but he remained aloof in submitting his response after lapsing more than one year and he used delaying tactics in submission of response.
Azhar Kamlana said that the PML-N MNA Abdur Rehman Khan Kanju has been found involved in using dual CNICs on two different names as he is doing his family business on NIC bearing name Sardar Khan and political business on Abdur Rehman Khan Kanju.
