Alleged kidnappers thrashed by citizens

GUJRANWALA/SIALKOT-The members of a Child Protection Bureau team and another person were beaten up by the citizens on suspicion of being kidnappers in separate incidents in Gujranwala while the dead body of a missing child was found in Sialkot on Wednesday.
The Child Protection team led by Khrram conducted an operation against child labour at Sialkot Road and was trying to took two street boys namely Asif and Shahzeb when passers-by held the team members and started torturing them on suspecting them of being kidnappers. Later, Aroop police reached the spot and got the team members released from the people after ensuring their identity.
Likewise, the citizens tortured a suspect while he was kidnapping a boy here at Shoukat Abad , in Civil Lines area Gujranwala while his two companions succeeded to escape. It was told that three persons were trying to kidnap a boy when citizens held one Rafaqat, a resident of Abbotabad, while his two companions succeeded to escape. The people tortured him brutally and later on handed over to civil lines police.
The accused under police custody said that he was not a kidnapper and was came here on a business tour for collection of money.
On the other side, the dead body of a missing minor child was found from the fields near his house in village Hail Bajwaan-Phookaliyaan. Local farmer Nadeem’s minor son Abdullah (5) went missing two days before while playing in the street in front of his house.
Victim Abdullah’s father said that the grieved family had told the police that some unknown accused had kidnapped their beloved son, but the Phookaliyaan police remained unable to trace out the accused or recover the missing/kidnapped child. Some local villagers found the dead body of the child form the local fields. The clueless police said that some unknown accused killed the child by strangulating him to death and threw his body in the fields to conceal their sin.
Police handed over the body to the grieved family for burial after autopsy.
The grieved family and heirs staged anti-police demonstration by putting the body on local road in their village. They chanted anti-police slogans. They demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Sukhera should ensure early arrest of kidnappers-cum-killers at the earliest.
Later, the victim was laid to rest in his native graveyard amid sobs and tears. A large number of people attended his funeral. Meanwhile, the Sialkot DPO said that police have arrested a suspect in the case. He added that police have registered a case and further investigations were underway.
