N proposal for judicial tribunal useless: MQM

ISLAMABAD - Disagreeing with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz proposal for formation of a judicial tribunal to scrutinise the details of all the politicians assets, Muttahida Qaumi Movement viewed that there was no need of tribunal in presence of National Accountability Bureau. "There is no use of tribunal in the presence of NAB, as its inspecting all cases of such nature... Forming committee upon a committee is useless," MQM Central Information Secretary Wasay Jalil told TheNation. He said MQM was also in favour of accountability, as their party had never been involved in corruption, fake degree cases or other such matters. "MQM is not afraid of accountability, as our assets are open for all... MQM members have never hidden their assets," Wasay Jalil said, adding that it would be odd to constitute a judicial tribunal to scrutinise the politicians assets, as NAB was performing its duty in this regard. It is worth mentioning here that PML-N, a couple of days before, proposed to constitute a judicial tribunal to scrutinise the details of assets of all the politicians, alleging that PTI Chief Imran Khan did not show all of his assets. PML-N adopted such a stance soon after the press conference of PTI chief, in which he shared his assets with media. To a question about memogate controversy, Wasay Jalil avoided commenting, saying that this matter was sub-judice. "It's a sensitive issue and court proceeding is underway... Let the court decision come on it," he added. When asked about the progress on Local Government (LG) system, MQM leader said that both Pakistan People's Party and Muttahida exchanged a draft of suggestion and proposals in the last meeting. "Deliberation on suggestion is underway and further views would be exchanged after two days between two parties," Wasay Jalil said, adding that both the parties were unanimous to chalk out a strategy for the interest of Sindh people. It was also reported that PPP and MQM have so far failed to sort out differences on LG system, as the core committee meeting of both the ruling coalition partners in Sindh remained inconclusive in the last meeting. The core committee of the two parties met at CM's House with Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq, Local Government Minster Agha Siraj Durrani, Minister for Archives Rafique Engineer and Saeed Ghani from ruling PPP and MQM's Parliamentary Leader in Sindh Assembly Syed Sardar Ahmed, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, MNA Wasim Akhtar and Kanwar Naveed Jamil representing the MQM.
