Pakistan part of Saudi-led counter-terror coalition: Sartaj

Foreign Affairs advisor Sartaj Aziz confirmed that Pakistan is in the Saudi led 34-country alliance against ISIS, Waqt News reported. He was giving an in-camera briefing to Foreign Affairs Committee in Islamabad. "But Pakistan is not sending its Army to Saudi Arabia," Aziz clarified.

Aziz told the committee that Pakistan has apprehensions regarding the Saudi-Iran conflict. “We are observing the matter very closely,” he stated.

Pakistan government is in a state of turmoil after Saudi-Iran conflict. Pakistani government has hinted that it does not want to take sides rather it will play the role of mediator on right time.

Furthermore the recently established 34-country counter-terror alliance is a serious matter for foreign policymakers and government of Pakistan. The ruling party is facing severe opposition domestically over physical involvement in the Middle Eastern war.
