N, independents rule the roost in Khanewal

After general elections 2013 in Khanewal district, the PML-N has bagged three seats of National Assembly out of four and, four seats of Punjab Assembly out of seven while the remaining seats have been won by the independent candidates, according to unofficial results.
The PP-217 election has been postponed due to death of independent candidate Abdul Sattar Warsi. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf remained runner-up in the district and bagged a large number of votes in all the constituencies.
In NA-156, independent candidate Raza Hayat Hiraj got 78,357 votes and defeated for third consecutive time his rival and former speaker National Assembly Syed Fakhar Imam who got 69,080 votes. This was the constituency where neck and neck competition was expected. In NA-157, Muhammad Khan Daha of PML-N defeated his opponent Hamid Yar Hiraj of PML-Q and PPPP.
 In NA-158, Muhammad Aslam Bodla got 93,564 votes from PML-N platform and defeated PTI’s Zahfoor Hussain Qureshi who got 71,807 votes. Haider Zaman Qureshi got 28,138 votes. In NA-159-Khanewal-IV, Iftikhar Nazir of PML-N defeated PTI’s Malik Ghulam Murtza Matila.
In PP-212, independent candidate Akbar Hayat Hiraj defeated a strong candidate of PML-N, Syed Mukhtar Hussain Qureshi. In NA-213 independent candidate Syed Hussain Jahanian Gerdezi got 35016 votes after neck and neck competition with PML-N’s Irfan Memood who could get 32848 votes and Shahbaz Sial of PTI.
In PP-214, Nishat Ahmad Khan Daha of PML-N defeated Imran Perviaz Dhool of PTI and Muhammad Saleem of PML-Q with a huge margin. In PP-215, Ch Fazalrr Rehman of PML-N defeated former adviser to prime minister Ahmad Yar Hiraj with big margin. Due to his defeat and of his brother Hamid Yar Hiraj, the 10 year rule-Hiraj family has come to an end.
In PP-216, Aamir Hiraj of PML-N got 34093 votes and defeated PTI’s Ali Abbas Shah who got 21870 votes, Election of PP-217 has postponed due to death of independent candidate, For PP-218 seat, independent candidate Abdul Razzaq Niazi got 34198 votes and defeated Jamil Shah who got 33195 votes and PTI’s Faisal Niazi who got 16187 votes.
