Forces foil terror bid in Karachi

Karachi- The city police aborted a sabotage bid to target anti-polio vaccinators by killing overnight two terrorists who were planning to rig explosives to a rickshaw and seizing from their possession gunpowder, officials said on today.
According to local police, Sohrab Goth police and Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), moving on a tip-off from intelligence agencies, conducted a raid near Sohrab Goth. The security personnel signaled a car and a rickshaw to pull over near Ganna Mandi; instead, the miscreants opened reckless gunfire on them that resulted in an armed encounter. The exchange of gunfire ended with the killing of two operatives of outlawed outfit; however, the four extremists riding the car managed to flee the scene. According to SHO Syed Shoaib Ali, the rickshaw was primed to be used against anti-polio campaigners in the metropolis. The police official said at least ten-kilogram explosives and two hand grenades were recovered from the custody of the criminals. The killed terrorists have been identified as Qamar-uz-Zaman and Moosa Khan. Both of them hailed from Waziristan.
