NOWSHERA VIRKAN - Political campaign is gaining momentum day by day here especially in For NA-100 as the general elections are approaching fast.
All the parties and candidates are making efforts to win the voters’ trust. Public gatherings and corner meetings are being held after the announcement of candidates by political parties. A neck and neck competition is expected between PML-N ticket-holder from Nahra Group which is led by Mudassar Qayyum and the candidate supported by Ittehad Group which is headed by Bilal Ejaz. Both the heads are former MNAs.
For NA-100, the PML-N’s candidate is Azhar Qayyum Nahra, Riaz Bibi, widow of Amanat ali Virk, for PP-101 and Rafaqat Hussain Gujjar for PP-102. Both the groups were in the race to get PML-N ticket but after the nomination of Nahra Group’s candidates, the Ittehad group has decided to contest the elections independently.
Nahra and Mrs Amant told the media that their party would get landslide victories across the country and Nawaz Sharif would become the prime minister of Pakistan with the public support. Nahra was of the view that the PML made Pakistan and would also save her. He said that the party leadership was making an all-out effort for the betterment of the people and put the country on the path to prosperity. He further expressed the hope that his party because of its pro-people policies would make a clean sweep in the forthcoming general elections. The PP-101 candidate said that her party was united under the leadership of Nawaz Shairf. She expressed the hope her party would win the general elections. On the other hand, the PPP has nominated former MNA Tassadaq Masood Khan who won the seat in 2010 by-poll after defeating the PML-N’s Azhar Qayyum Nahra. However, for PP-101 and PP-102 constituencies, it has not nominated its candidates yet.
Similarly, the Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf has not yet fielded its candidate for the NA seat but has named Ch Abid Sohail Virk and Hakeem Saifullah as its candidates for PP-101 and PP-102 constituencies. Jamaat-e-Islami has launched its political campaign with Sardar Riaz Ahmed for NA-100, Mian Mazhar Iqbal Sajid for PP-101 and Muhammad Sarwar Warriach for PP-102 seat. Besides, a large number of independent candidates are in the race. Mian Muhammad Javed Advocate will contest from PP-101. He is representing Arain family which is one of the big families of tehsil Nowshera Virkan.
 He claimed that he was being supported by different castes in the city and its adjoining villages.
