ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) informed the Supreme Court that Hindu temples were damaged and their gods humiliated in Sindh but the relevant authorities took no action against the culprits.
Patron-in-Chief PHC Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani on Monday submitted a report about the incidents of damaging and insulting the Hindu temples. He said some unknown people have damaged, humiliated and insulted their gods at Hinglaj Temple at Makli, District Thatta.
He also informed that some unknown culprits have damaged Radha Kirshan Temple and also attacked and injured two women inside it. The temple is  situated at Mirpur Khas Road, Hyderabad. Similarly, some unknown persons tried to take possession of colony and Hindu temple in Hyderabad, Fateh Chowk, opposite Pak Cola Factory. The said mandar and colony are in the possession of the community for the last 100 years. He informed that still the culprits involved in the attack on four temples, including Hanuman Mandar, Fateh Chowk, Hyderabad, Larkana Dharamshala, Mandar at Madeji District Shikarpur and Parbriham Mandar, Vehri Jhup, District Mithi, have not been arrested, adding as the relevant authorities taking no interest therefore such incidents are taking place.
Dr Ramesh stated that despite the Supreme Court direction no positive steps have been initiated for the implementation of the apex court judgment.
The Supreme Court last week had summoned the Inspector General of Police Sindh on March 11 to explain about the protection of minorities’ worship places in the province.
The applicant giving details of the measures which have been taken for the implementation of the court’s judgment has requested the SC to ask that how many non-Muslim religious places have been registered so far and what security measures have been taken to protect the worship places.
The applicant further pleaded the court to seek the details of the advertisement for the recruitment of posts since June 19, 2014 and the allocation of 5 per cent quota of the minorities in the said advertised posts. “What steps taken for the finalisation of the curriculum the protection of the minorities and for the increase the interfaith, adding that what steps have been taken for the promulgation of the Hindu Marriage Act,” he adds.
Dr Ramesh further prayed the court to ask the latest updates and reports regarding the measures taken for Hindu Gymkhana at Karachi by Sindh police as well as handing over possession of Shri Parm Hans Ji Mahraj Samadi Teri District karack from K-P government.
