BAHAWALPUR
The national power grid will get 100 megawatts of solar energy in March 2015 as the solar panels and transmission lines have been installed at Quaid-i-Azam Solar Power Park, the biggest project of solar energy in Pakistan to be completed at a cost of Rs15 billion, located at Lal Sohanra and Din Garh, Bahawalpur.
After completion, the project will be included in the top 10 projects of solar energy in the world. The law-enforcers are working for the security of the project. The second meteorology station after Islamabad’s is being established in the park with the cooperation of World Bank.
The total capacity of the solar park would be 1000 MW after its completion. In the first phase, the construction of Solar Park at Lal Sohanra was started over 11,000 acres of land. It has been divided into 20 parts of 250 acres of land each and solar power project of 50 megawatts will be set up on every 250 acre land. In the first phase, 100 MW of solar energy will be produced with a cost of Rs 15 billion with the collaboration of Chinese Company TBA, Chief Executive Officer of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Najam Ahmed Shah told The Nation.
He said that 11-km access road to the site has been completed at a cost of Rs488 million. Work on boundary wall of the park had also been completed, he added. An eleven KV feeder of electricity has been established for the project and 85 Chinese engineers and about 1,800 workers are busy in the project while 60 percent of these workers belong to KPK and FATA. However, the workers are not being provided with security.

The minister said that website of any government or organisation mirrored its policies and performance which provided not only information and facilities but also the opportunity to express their opinion.
He lauded that the PRSP had provided a forum to people related to Information and Public Relations which would certainly promote inter-provincial cooperation and brotherhood. He pointed out that it was an honour for Bahawalpur region that from here, the PRSP had been established for the officials related to Information and Public Relations department throughout the country and he felt honour in participating and presiding its first convention because they will be able to know lots of problems and requirements related to the most important department of Government which he did not know before.
