ISLAMABAD- Former president Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer, Ahmed Raza Kasuri said his client respects the law and the courts.

“Despite his ailment, Pervez Musharraf appeared before the special court today which demonstrates that he completely respects the rule of law and the courts,” Kasuri spoke to journalists outside the court set up to try former army chief in a case of high treason.


He stated that a decision regarding Musharraf’s trail by a military court or a civil court would now be made on February 21.

Musharraf’s lawyers had guaranteed earlier that he would appear before the court today.

Musharraf is facing treason charges under Article 6 for suspending, subverting and abrogating the Constitution, imposing an emergency in the country in November 2007 and detaining judges of the superior court.
