The Punjab government has granted funds to the tune of Rs4.8 billion for the extension of SMB Link Canal on Mailsi Siphon out of which Rs200 million have been released while the rest will be released soon.
MNA from NA-170 Saeed Ahmed Khan Manias stated during inspection of the project here the other day.
Mr Manias informed that the project would be completed within three years which would enhance water capacity of the SMB Link Canal by 1,600 cusec.
“Current capacity of the canal is 5,200 cusec which will be increased to 6,800 cusec once the project is completed,” he pointed, adding that increase in irrigation water would benefit the entire area and the farmers would be able to get huge amount of crop from their fields. He said that the project of Mailsi Siphon Park has been initiated which would cost Rs5.5 million and would be completed soon. Mr Manias pointed out that park at Mailsi siphon was a longstanding demand of the people of Mailsi and that it is the PML-N commitment to fulfil all demands of the public.
“The extension of SMB link canal will help bring more than 250,000 acres of land under cultivation,” Mr manias claimed. Assistant Commissioner Syed Shafqat Raza Bokhari, SDO Irrigation Mian Muhammad Aslam, TMO Ch Muhammad Nadeem, TOI and Ch Abdul Ghafoor and Naib Tehsildar Allah Ditta briefed the MNA on the project. Saeed Ahmed Khan Manias went around the SMB link canal and the site for family park at siphon. Muhammad Ajmal Khan Sagoo, president press club Azizullah Shah Tahir, General Secretary Syed Naveedul Hassan Qutbi, Muhammad Aslam Khan Yousafzai, and others were presented on the occasion.
