CHINIOT - The police have seized heavy cache of arms and narcotics hidden in a car, and arrested the driver, said Chiniot DPO Mustansar Feroz while addressing a press conference.
He said that on a tip-off, the police intensified checking of vehicles entering Chiniot and a suspected car was intercepted in which heavy cache of arms was stored.
The arms included 58 30-bore pistols; 19 rifles; 5 sub-machine guns; 1 rifle 222-bore; 22,000 cartridges and 2 kilogramme charas.
The arrested accused identified as Shafiq, resident of Haripur Hazara. The arms were stored in the secret cabins made in the car through alteration. Police have launched investigation to dig as to where the arms have to be delivered and whether it was to be used during Chehlum of Hazrat Hussain (RA).
140 TEACHERS REGULARISED
The district administration has ordered the regularisation of 140 contractual teachers of Schools Education Department Chiniot.
District Education Officer Khalid Akhtar has issued regularization orders of teachers which included PSTs and ESTs.
Punjab Teachers Union Vice President Safdar Kalroo has felicitated the government move and demanded that regularization of the rest of female teachers and senior SST Teachers should also be issued with immediate effect. The DPO said that the police will trace the culprits and bust the network of illegal arms trafickers soon.
