12 food outlets sealed for tax default

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) sealed 12 food outlets including two marriage halls for non-payment of their sales and services taxes.
It was part of the ongoing crackdown on the defaulters in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts. PRA Gujranwala Division Additional Commissioner Shafqat Rasul and Assistant Commissioner Tanveer Yaseen led the crackdown. The PRA teams sealed Sarai Adam Marriage Hall, Moon Marriage Hall and 10 other food outlets for the non payments of their sales and services taxes. The PRA officials added that the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has issued recovery notices to the hundreds of defaulters advising them to ensure early payment of 16 percent sales tax on services sectors. These sectors include car and auto mobile, auto workshops, electric and electronics, health and gym, physical fitness clubs, hair cutting, hair dying and shaving saloons, hotels, guest houses club, air conditioned beauty parlours, beauty centers, shopping plazas, mall centres, property dealers, construction services, tour operators and travel agents, sports goods, textile, leather, carpet, surgical and franchises etc.
PROJECT APPROVED: The Punjab government has approved a project of drain from China Chowk to Saahowala Canal along the main Sialkot-Uggoki- Sambrial Road.
A district officer reviewed the project. He said that the provincial government had allocated special development funds of Rs400 million for the project, which would be helpful in solving the problem of sewerage system. He also directed TMA Sialkot and Public Health Engineering Department to ensure early digging of unpaved drain between Nole Mor to Uggoki for the disposal of sewerage water from Roras Road locality.
