VIRGINA: US Defence Secretary Asian Carter has said that sacrifices rendered by Pakistan army in the war against terrorism were laudable.
“We appreciate Pakistan endeavours for dismantling terrorists’ network. We pay tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan army against terrorism,” he said while talking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Pentagon.
The prime minister visited Pentagon on the invitation of Carter, received the prime minister and his team on their arrival.
Both Nawaz and the US secretary defence exchanged views on a range of issues including regional peace, security matters and defence agreements between the two countries.
The prime minister expressed his satisfaction over bilateral defence cooperation between Pakistan and the US. The premier appreciated Carter’s role in bolstering Pakistan-US defence cooperation.
Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Tariq Fatmi, Jalil Abbas Jillani and foreign secretary Aizaz Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
