Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appreciated the security and safety mechanism of nuclear program and said SPD has been playing an important role, in strengthening Pakistan's defense capabilities.

The Prime Minister was talking to the newly appointed DG Strategic Plans Division (SPD), Lt. Gen. Mazhar Jamil who called on him at the PM House today and discussed matters relating to Pakistan's nuclear, missile and space programs. Lt. Gen. Mazhar Jamil thanked the government for reposing confidence in his abilities, for this important assignment and assured the Prime Minister that he will perform duties to the best of his abilities.

The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that under his command, the Division will continue to work towards this end. SPD is an important component of National Command Authority which is headed by the Prime Minister and exercises complete command and control, over the country's nuclear and strategic capability structure.
