6 labourers shot dead in Pasni

QUETTA – Unidentified gunmen shot dead six labourers in tehsil Pasni of Balochistan Saturday night.
Pasni Assistant Commissioner Naeem Gichki said the labourers were working on the Makran Coastal Highway in Gwadar district’s Shadi Kaur area, some 25 kilometres from Pasni town.
Unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle came there and opened indiscriminate fire, killing 6 labourers on the spot, sparing only a 12-year- old boy. The attackers fled the scene after the killings.
“The incident took place at around 2am Saturday night,” Gichki said, adding that all of the killed labourers belonged to Zhob district and they were brought from Quetta a day earlier for the highway construction work.
The deceased were taken to the Civil Hospital Gwadar for autopsy where they were identified as Abdul Haleem s/o Abdul Sattar, Muhammad Yousaf s/o Muhammad Yaqoob, Norrudin s/o Mhasood, Khlo Jan s/o Muhammad Ibrahim, Yameen s/o Muhammad Karim and Rehmatullah.
Gwadar District Police Officer Syed Ghayasuddin Rashidi said that the labourers were lined up, identified and then killed. The attackers spared a 12 year-old-boy, he added. “A local contractor had brought them from Quetta for construction work on highway just a day before.”
The local contractor shifted the bodies to their native town in Zhob for burial. No group had claimed the responsibility for the killings. A case has been registered and investigation was underway.
The DPO said that they had informed the Gwadar Deputy Commissioner on February 21 about the possibility of such incident in Pasni and suggested to establish some checkposts at the incoming and outgoing routs of the area.
“The Deputy Commissioner ordered for establishing the checkposts and it was under process when the incident occurred,” Rashidi said. He said that they had launched a search operation to find the attackers in Pasni city and had seized ten vehicles and two suspected motorcycles.
FC kills two armed suspects: Two suspects were killed and four others were arrested on Sunday by Frontier Corps (FC) in a targeted operation in Qila Abdullah, bordering with Afghanistan.
A spokesperson said that acting on a tip-off, the FC carried out operation near Gulistan and killed two suspects in a gun battle while four others were nabbed.
“Security personnel seized rocket launchers, hand grenades, Kalashnikovs and explosives from the possession of suspects,” he added. Sources said the arrested men were being interrogated.
Since imposition of Governor Rule in Balochistan and getting police powers, FC has killed several accused in search operations and arrested dozens others in different parts of the province.
