PM, PPP govt to last tenure


HYDERABAD – Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Maula Bakhsh Chandio has said that Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani would remain the country’s prime minister and the elections would be held after completion of the sitting government’s constitutional tenure.
Talking to media here on Sunday, the minister ruled out the possibility of any change of the prime minister. He said that PPP’s government respected the judiciary and is implementing all its orders. “Even if we disagree with certain decisions still we present ourselves with the pleas to the same judiciary out of respect,” he added. Chandio lauded the contributions of President  Zardari for entrenchment of democracy in the country through the constitutional amendments, consensus-based decisions with the opposition and successful march towards completion of the government’s constitutional time period.
He blamed some news anchor-persons for trying to create misunderstanding between the government and the judiciary through unsubstantiated analysis and predictions which never materialised. “They just try to make a mountain of a molehill,” he said. To a question about any looming change of the ministers in the federal cabinet, the minister said that the political parties take decisions from time to time, however, he said he did not know of any impending change. Chandio was accompanied by the leaders of the PPP on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the demarcation of 500 acres of land has been made in Kohisar area of Latifabad for establishment of Hyderabad University while in the same area, a plot of 10 acres of land has been reserved for completion of a modern medical colleges for which, the government has approved a grant of Rs80 million under Annual Development Programme of the current financial year. This was informed by the Commissioner Ahmed Bakhsh Narejo at a meeting with Sindh Minister Zubair Ahmed and MNA Tayyab Hussain here at his camp office.
The Commissioner on the occasion asked the officers of Hyderabad Development Authority to contact the concerned departments for possession of allocated land for the university and medical colleges with completion of all required legal formalities so that both the projects could be completed in time. He also directed preparation of PC-I of the projects within fifteen days time so that the work could be executed at the earliest.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Tayyab Hussain said that the establishment of the university and medical college will help the youth of Hyderabad and adjoining areas to acquire higher education at their nearest. He emphasised the need of the repair of road leading to allocated area of the projects from Latifabad.  The meeting also discussed the proposal of starting university classes on temporary basis in Government Comprehensive College Latifabad till the completion of university buildings and decided to take final decision in this direction in the next meeting.
The meeting also emphasised the need of the appointment of Principal of the medical college so that proper administrative and academic strategies could be prepared for smooth functioning of the college after completion.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Memon, DG Development Authority Ghulam Muhammad Kaimkhani, Administrator Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Shariq Ahmed and Director Administration of the DG Health Services Sindh Dr Aijaz Ursani attended the meeting.
