PTI sticks to Nov 2 protest plan

Imran says Sharif a security risk, Sees Indian hand behind Quetta attack, Questions why something major happens whenever PTI plans a protest

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Tuesday outrightly ruled out any change in the November 2 anti-government plan as he expressed sorrow over the latest terrorist attacks against law-enforcers in the country.

Talking to media at his residence here before leaving for Quetta to offer condolences, Khan rejected any change in the anti-government plan saying, the protest would start on November 2 despite all odds. When asked if PTI would change date for the protest, Khan said all the political activities would continue despite the latest terrorism incident.

Strongly condemning what he termed cowardly terror attack, Imran suspected that India might have a hand in the attack against police cadets. When asked if the government could plan such an attack so as to divert focus from the anti-government campaign, Khan said ‘no’. “It could be an Indian doctrine… whenever we intended to launch protest against Nawaz government, some terrorism incident hit the country. Every time the government runs into problems, something major happens. May be they (India) want to weaken us from within,” he observed.

“India cannot defeat us militarily because we too are a nuclear power, a new doctrine is emerging there. The doctrine is to make Pakistan implode from inside. To make Pakistan descend into chaos without any reforms,” he explained.

“We are going to keep pushing this question that why every time the government runs into trouble, something major happens,” he added.

Despite repeated queries, he did not blame the PML-N government for the terrorism incidents in Pakistan just at the outset of some anti-government political activity. However, he lashed out at the government for not raising the issue of Indian involvement in Balochistan at international level as he said Balochistan government was pointing out the same since long.

“The question is that when the CM of Balochistan, a PML-N CM, is saying that it is India carrying out these attacks, when there is evidence of RAW involvement in Karachi and Balochistan, so why has Nawaz Sharif not raised it internationally? When Kulbushan Yadav was caught and evidence of Indian involvement found, then why did he not bring it up at international for a,” he said.

Talking about terrorist attack on police cadets in Quetta, Khan said the reports suggest that planning was done in Afghanistan which gives impression that India has a hand in it. However, Khan termed Sharif a security risk for the country as he observed that the government had nothing to do except hiding corruption of the prime minister. “Nawaz Sharif himself has become a security risk for Pakistan and by stopping accountability at all levels, he is also rendering it impossible to find where money trails for terrorism are coming from and going to,” he said. Khan said the defence minister is too much coward to call India out. “The security leaks that happened and the defamation of our army, I ask... Why have those people not been exposed,” he posed a question.

Imran was sure that one million people would throng capital roads on November 2 to pressurize the prime minister to present himself for accountability. Doctors, students, lawyers and people from all walks of life would participate in the protest, he added. However, he was not sure if Tahirul Qadri would join PTI in the anti-government campaign despite he had formally been invited for the same. He was of the view that Qadri himself should have availed the opportunity to record protest against the government.

DPC not invited to rally: Qureshi

INP adds: PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday denied that the party had invited the Difa-i-Pakistan Council (DPC) to participate in the PTI's planned siege of Islamabad on Nov 2.

"DPC has its own ideology, they are holding their programme on Oct 28. We cannot stop them but we did not invite them. We did not invite DPC or Shuhada Council."

The government has been creating the impression that PTI has been inviting militant organisations to participate in Nov 2 lockdown, Qureshi alleged, adding this is governmental propaganda.

“We are against extremism as we never invited any militant organisation ever,” he stated.

“We are inviting people, students, farmers, labourers and all those who are against tyranny and injustice, no matter with which party they belong to,” he said.
