ISLAMABAD: National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retired) Naseer Khan Janjua on Wednesday emphasised the need to break the nexus of Afghanistan-based terrorist operating under the patronage of NDS and RAW.
“They are being covertly supported to come and hit soft targets in Pakistan,” Janjua told US Ambassador David Hale.
The two discussed Monday’s Quetta attack, counter- terrorism operations and cross-border attacks.
Hale condemned the attack on Quetta’s Police Training College and expressed his deepest regrets and also offered all out help from US in this regard.
The NSA briefed him on the efforts Pakistan is making to improve the security situation by implementing National Action Plan.
“Peace in Afghanistan is directly linked to the peace in Pakistan and political reconciliation in Afghanistan is inevitable for the stability of the region,” said Janjua.
He added that terrorists responsible for Quetta massacre were constantly in touch with their leadership based in Afghanistan. “Pakistan needs US support in this regard,” he added.
The US ambassador also apprised NSA of the initiatives US has taken to improve the security situation in Afghanistan.
