Corruption in Wildlife Department unearthed

DERA GHAZI KHAN

The Punjab ombudsman has remarked in a decision that maladministration has been committed by the Wildlife Department DG Khan in awarding of excessive marks to its blue-eyed candidate during an interview held for a junior clerk post.
He directed the authority of Wildlife Department DG Khan to reexamine the case in view of observations, and determine the merit of the complainant again for the stated reasons, the complainant may be found entitled to appointment as junior clerk. The Punjab Ombudsman has also remarked that the representative of the agency could not explain as to where from 10 marks of experience have been awarded to selectee Tariq Ahmed.
There is discrimination in awarding marks in interview to Tariq Ahmed, it was observed. He passed the orders in the case of complainant Muhammad Ali, a resident of Shamsabad tehsil Taunsa.
Ali, who holds an M-Com degree, said that he had applied for the post of Junior Clerk in the office of Deputy Director Wildlife DG Khan. He was administered typing test on April 22, 2015 and secured the first position on the merit list. Subsequently, he was interviewed successfully. In July 2015, he learnt from the agency that all the posts advertised for recruitment were filled except the post of junior clerk. After three days, he telephoned in the office of Deputy Director Wildlife DG Khan and learnt that the post of junior clerk was also filled and an incumbent namely Tariq Ahmed, having B-Com degree, was appointed. By this act, he was deliberately ignored at the time of final selection on the bogus charge of non provision of experience certificate and failure in verbal interview and was deprived of the job.
When approached, the complainant alleged that Khurshid Azam Deputy Director wildlife has violated the merit policy of Chief Minister Punjab.
An official of Wildlife Department DG Khan with the request of anonymity said that Khurshid Azam had been stopped to perform as duties of Deputy Director Wildlife Region DG Khan due to corruption and malpractice in department.
Now he is performing as Assistant Director Wildlife DG Khan. Corrupt mafia of department has earned millions of rupees as bribe in the name of appointments of 37 vacant posts, he added.
He also informed that another complaint was lodged on August 04, 2015 against Khurshid Azam in the court of Punjab Ombudsman at DG Khan with the serious allegations such as corruption in purchase of solar panels for installation at Taunsa Barrage while no solar panel has so far been installed there. Instead of fibre, the boats of inferior quality have been purchased by Khurshid Azam in collusion with Muhammad Nawaz Bhutta. Close Circuit Cameras TV have not been installed in the Wildlife Park DG Khan (DG Khan Zoo) though the amount for it has been drawn from the account.
Brother-in-law of Ghulam Mustafa clerk was appointed as Wildlife Supervisor against the merit published in newspaper. Publicity funds have been drawn without done of any work. Mr Zahid Shah has been employed by the Department but he does not know the skill of driving. No employed person is performing duty as driver for official vehicle No D-6660. One Mr Taqi Shah has been shown as driver posted in Rajanpur but he resides in Karachi.
He added that it was strong complaint against corrupt mafia of Wildlife Department but due to unknown and unseen reasons complainant was forced to withdraw the complaint.
