Islamabad-Karachi train planned, NA told

ISLAMABAD - Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Dewan Ashiq Hussain Monday apprised the National Assembly that a new train is going to be started from Islamabad to Karachi.
Margalla Station Islamabad is now going to be operational and people living in the Federal Capital could board this inter-city train. Parliamentary Secretary also told the house that Mehran Express between Karachi-Mirpur Khas is also being restored.        
During the question hour session in the lower house, he said Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project could not be revived due to encroachments and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is reluctant to fulfil its commitment about financial assistance.
He said the project does not fall within the domain of the Pakistan Railways but it is ready to assist the provincial government for its revival.  
To another supplementary question, he said that KCR project in Karachi and Orange Train project in Lahore are totally different and have no linkage with each other.
Minister-in-Charge of Aviation Division told the house that the remaining work of New Islamabad International Airport is likely to be completed by October next year.  
He said as it would be a state-of-the-art facility having five level of security and efficient operational benefits, more international airlines are likely to commence their operations with consequential increase in international estimations.
Minister for Education and Professional Training informed the house that 44 government officials and 106 faculty members and employees of universities were sent abroad for higher education during the last two financial years.
