NH&MP collected Rs30.9m fine last year


KHANEWL - National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) khanewal have collected Rs30.9 million as fine from vehicle owners over traffic violation in year 2011.
NH & MW Chief Patrolling Officer Malik Muhammad Safdar Awan disclosed this while talking to media here Friday at his office. Malik safdar informed the newsmen that the department had collected Rs2.1 million more revenue than 2010.
 He added that during 2011, 115,234 people were booked by NH & MP Beat-18 on violation of traffic rules and about 23,729 travellers facing traffic problem were helped, out of which 72,737 were given briefing about traffic rules and safety measure.
DSP Malik Safdar said that ratio of road crimes and accident was decreased due to NH & MP’s improved strategy. He said the police arrested 101 criminal and recovered 2 cars, one van, one bicycle, 12 cell phones, 15kg copper electric wire, stolen animals & trees and 436 litters of liquor. The NH & MP also seized 20 pistols, 21 magazine and 262 bullets, he added. Malik Safdar said total Rs131 million were collected from four beats including Rs30.8 million from Beat No 17 (Kassowal), from Beat No 18 (Khanewal) Rs30.9 million, from Beat No 19 (Basti Malook) Rs20.1 million, from Beat No 20 (Lodhran) Rs30.2 million.
