Lahore : A joint meeting organized by Pakistan Civil Society Forum , Joint Action Committee for People’s Rights and Women Action Forum , was held today at Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s office . The meeting strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the innocent citizens including children at Gulshan-e –Iqbal Park. This was highlighted that Pakistan is in a war situation and there is no clear cut government policy on this war, the stamen said. The civil society organizations present at the meeting expressed their deep concerns and reactions on the very sad incidence occurred on the same day, brutality at Lahore by terrorists, attack at Karachi Press Club and capturing Red Zone at Islamabad by religious fanatics. They said that these recent brutal actions indicate the false claims of government that there are neither terrorists nor militant groups in Madris nor any Daiash elements present anywhere in Pakistan. These negates all the claims made by the government
While expressing grief and disappointment Asma Jahangir said, “they have come to kill our children now, will we still stay quiet? We know Pakistan is at war, but the Government’s Government’s counter-terrorism policy unclear.” We , the civil society organizations strongly believe that the halfheartedly implementation on National Action Plan by the government ,very vague policies and not timely taken action actions against the terrorism have encouraged such terrorist attacks and are the root cause of increasing militancy and militants . We along with all the peaceful citizens of Pakistan strongly demand that the government and all the law enforcement and security agencies/ institutions must give clear cut policies to eliminate terrorism and implement these policies against these elements without any discretion
The civil society demands that State must launch operation against all the militant groups , their facilitators and helpers without any distinction and this operation should be monitored/ undertaken by the civil institutions including Judiciary and Parliament and people should be informed , because citizens have the right to know that at what extent the government is implementing on the National Plan of Action (NAP) and what are the factors and forces at the back, that have worked to exclude the important points from NAP and are creating hurdles for implementing National Action Plan or they have been exempted from NAP. The civil society expressed its concerns that society at large is undergoing extreme critical situation that is effecting educational ,Cultural and Social systems and activities ,such as recreational Places and Parks are being effected , that is promoting fanaticism ,due to this citizens, specially religious minorities are being threatened.
