PIMA rescue team returns from Nepal

Islamabad: Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) rescue team returned from Nepal where they held free medical camps for the earthquake affectees.

The team included three senior surgeons, consultants, and Alkhidmat Disaster Management personals.

This team provided medical relief to earthquake affectees from May 8th to 18, 2015 in collaboration with Islami Sangh Nepal (ISN) and Islamic Medical Association Nepal (IMAN).

The primary aim of the visit was to conduct the need assessment as well as to provide medical aid to the affectees.

PIMA team held 8 medical camps in underserved areas of the city and also in remote areas of the country. Most of patients were with usual ailments with some presenting with minor earthquake related injuries or stress issues. PIMA provided medical assistance to more than 750 patients during the stay.

Prof Dr. Ahmed Fawad, Prof of Surgery/Urologist, Ziauddin University Karachi was PIMA team leader. They visited Khatmandu, Gorkha district, in the northeast of Kathmandu and a Dharmshala in the Kathmandu valley. The team also visited the Pakistan Army Field hospital in Bakhtapur.
